Inner Focus Raid Rules
Schedule
Inner Focus raids three nights a week, with a targeted participation time of 12 hours. All times are in server time.- Wednesday - 7:30pm to 11:30pm
- Sunday - 7:30pm to 11:30pm
- Monday - 7:30pm to 11:30pm
Players are expected to accept up to 1 hour per week of "excess" raid time to reach a convenient stopping point.
Players are expected to be at the raid zone, ready with all things necessary for the raid, 15 to 30 minutes prior to the scheduled raid time. Invites will go out no later than 15 minutes before raid start time.
Players are expected to indicate in the AFK forum all absences and shortened raiding availability.
During raids, we may take a 5 minute break once an hour in an attempt to alleviate the need for random AFK breaks during trash and after/before bosses.
Every effort will be made to inform the players of the the target dungeon at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled raid. As raid composition fluctuates, however, the destination is subject to change and could in fact change in mid raid (a shortage of healing classes may dictate an easier instance, for example).
Expectations
Preparation - All raid members are expected to be able to provide their own consumables (potions, bandages, etc) for raids. Using less than optimal consumables or neglecting to use consumables will not be tolerated and disciplinary actions will be taken if found to be slacking in this area. The guild, upon unanimous agreement of the officers, may opt to provide certain consumables to the guild through the guild bank. In addition, we will try to keep a stock of various consumables in the guild bank for use by raiders.
Attendance - Inner Focus expects players to maintain a decent attendance over the previous two weeks worth of raids. If a raider misses too many raids in the past two weeks, they will be temporarily demoted to a probationary rank where they will still be permitted to attend raids and earn DKP as normal, but they will be given last priority on main-spec loot and be given a lower priority on getting slotted to raid. The member will stay at this rank until their low-standing is resolved based on how many raids they had missed. Recruitment may be opened up based on this and lifetime attendance. Further attendance details are available upon request.
Conduct - Players are expected to follow the values indicated in the guild charter at all times. Additionally, players are expected to follow events through to completion. Players should try to post any time limitations clearly in the AFK forum. Obviously real life issues can cut a raid attendance short, and every attempt will be made to accommodate players time requirements. If you are sitting out of a raid on standby, you are expected to stay online, in the appropriate standby channel and on Ventrilo as long as the rest of the guild is still raiding. Neglecting to be reachable in those places during a raid while sitting out can potentially slow us down if we need you to swap in.
Wipes - Wipes do happen and when a wipe is called out, everyone in the raid is expected to die quickly and efficiently so we can recover quickly. Anyone caught avoiding repair bills or run backs by using abilities or zoning out will be immediately sat out with no second chance and no DKP for that entire night. On a wipe, the only person who should live through it is someone who has a DI on them or if the encounter resets before everyone dies.
Stability - Players are expected to have solid hardware and broadband internet. In addition, all players are expected to able to communicate on ventrilo.
Required Addons - Some addons are required for every raider to use. These include oRA3, Omen Threat Meter and one of the following boss mod addons: Deus Vox Encounters, BigWigs Bossmods or Deadly Boss Mods. Other addons that perform functions similar to these addons are not permitted (ex: CT_RaidAssist) so that everyone in the raid is on the same page and communicating the same information to each other. In addition to the addons required for everyone, certain classes are required to use addons of their own to handle processes of their own. These include, but are not limited to, Tank Buddy, PallyPower and ForteXorcist (Forte Warlock). Any of these required addons are to be maintained at the latest stable version unless otherwise instructed by an officer.
Player Skill, Performance and Reliability in Raiding
With the changes made to raid balance and buffs, we have more flexibility in our raid makeup. Because of this, our raiders are expected to maintain the following attributes:
Exhibit skill in movement and situational awareness
We need players who will not "stand in fire". If you cannot control your character with fast reaction times, you will not last long.
Players affected by weak situational and spatial awareness could effectively be handicapped by a poor UI layout. This is easily remedied with help from fellow guild mates in the creation of a better UI layout that allows for a more complete view of their surroundings.
Your computer and WoW configuration must be adequate to handle all aspects of the game
If you can't see the fire that you're supposed to move out of, you will not know when it is time to do so. Being able to turn video settings such as "spell detail" all the way up can give advantages to avoiding damage and positioning better.
If your UI consistently lags or freezes at specific times or areas, there is likely a fixable software bug or incompatibility in an addon that you use. Please ask your fellow guild mates for help in resolving this problem.
A solid internet connection between your computer the WoW server must be established. Chronic disconnects slow down the raid and cause unnecessary stress on those still connected. Occasional network issues will happen en route to the WoW server and those are typically unavoidable and understandable, but chronic connection issues related to the hardware in your home are resolvable by contacting your ISP. Network latency can sometimes be caused by malicious software installed on your computer. Make sure that your system is clean of viruses and malware.
Ability to analyze gameplay on an individual level
Players must be able to analyze their own logs in-game from their combat log and combat log aggregators (Recount, etc). Be able to identify problems based on this data and be vocal about communicating your findings. For example, when the raid leader or healing officer asks a healer why a tank died, they should quickly be able to identify what happened and communicate it to the appropriate parties. Help using complex add-ons like Recount is always available from the guild officers and other members.
Embrace a Competitive Attitude
Be competitive at raiding. DPS raiders should strive to be at the top of the damage meters while staying alive. Healers should strive for efficiency and effectiveness with their healing. Tanks should strive to be nimble and know the mobs they're tanking like the back of their hand while putting out sufficient threat to allow maximum raid DPS.
Admit mistakes and handle criticism
Nothing hurts progression more than not knowing what happened and why. Letting everyone know about mistakes you've made allows the opportunity to learn from them without making the same mistake themselves. Don't get this confused with excuse making. Mistakes are fine, everyone makes them. Repeated mistakes made by the same or different people are not. Don't limit knowledge to yourself, but help share it with everyone for the future.
How We Enforce Performance
In order to maintain a solid group of skilled players, everyone is expected to always seek to better themselves. To help meet this goal, officers will be issuing performance reviews to any player who we see to be struggling, slacking off, falling behind or otherwise hindering the progress of our raid. We will work with the player to help them. These reviews will be formatted with the following:
What the player is doing wrong - A detailed description of the event or series of events that indicated to us that there is a problem.
Officer suggestions to fix it - We will put forth our suggestions on how the player should go about fixing the problem.
What the player will do to fix it - The player will then decide if they want to follow our suggestions or put forth another suggestion for how to fix it. They are expected to follow through on this.
How long the player has to fix it - We will give the player either a time deadline to demonstrate that the problem has been resolved or, depending on the situation, the number of times we will permit it to happen.
What will happen if the player does not fix it - If the player neglects to fix the problem, this outlines what outcome there will be. This could be in the form of a demotion, gkick or decreased raid slot priority, but the outcome is not limited to these.
Raid Composition
Since we are aiming to maintain a raid roster of 30-35 members, not everyone will be able to be in a 25man raid at the same time. Raid officers will make every attempt to ensure a fair rotation between raid members based on the following guidelines:
- On progression encounters where we're still learning, officers will be given priority to take part in the raid.
- We will try to give someone priority who has the most amount of current DKP and wants a drop off of a boss (next up for loot).
- When possible, we will ask for volunteers to sit out. At the same time, someone should not voluntarily sit out for more than 2 raids in a row.
- Players in the low attendance rank will still remain at a lower raid slot priority.
- We will not attempt to fit someone into a raid just because of the previous guidelines if the encounter requires that we not overload on a certain role or class. (min/max > *)
- If an encounter requires a raid- or class-wide minimum stat or specific gear, players without said stats or gear will get lower priority for that encounter. These stats and gear will be communicated before we start the encounter.
Players should feel comfortable changing their spec/role as needed by the raid in order to ease farming or enable progression. Until Blizzard implements dual specs (and possibly after), the guild bank will be compensating players with respecs which are requested.
Loot Distribution
For trash, loot mode will be set to group loot. Before we start a boss encounter, the raid leader will change it to master looter. When we loot the boss, the master looter will perform a /rw raid warning with the following syntax: "[Boots of Infinite Ownage] roll for interest". Players interested in the item announced will do a /random 1-100 roll to show interest and it will be distributed based on highest current DKP or, in the event of a tied DKP, highest roll. If an epic, DKP-eligible item, drops during trash, everyone is to pass on the item and the assigned master looter will follow the process previously described.
While loot distribution is going on, everyone in the raid other than the master looter should be moving to the next trash pull or encounter and rebuffing if necessary. To be clear, we are using master loot for distribution not because we don't trust our raiders (we very much do), but in order to speed up our raids. If utilized correctly, it should shave off 2-4 minutes per boss kill.
DKP
Inner Focus uses a strict zero-sum DKP system. To avoid DKP inflation, DKP can only be awarded for items claimed during the raid. The raid bank will collect all spare items and sell or disenchant those items for the purpose of providing materials to the players who need them.
DKP is used on any progressively saved raid instance that takes place on a scheduled raid night and we are actively raiding. Previous tiers of instances, if retired from regular raiding, may not use DKP.
In the first three attended raids during their trial, recruits will not be awarded an item over a full member. After the first three raids of their trial, a recruit will need to have positive DKP in order to be awarded an item over a full member. As always, full members are welcome to pass to recruits.
Additionally, if a recruit has positive DKP, the recruit is able to win an item over a full raid member who is at low attendance.
To be specific, the loot priority is as follows:
1) Full Members
2) Recruits (+)
3) Low Attendance
4) Recruits (-)
5) Low Attendance Recruits
To earn DKP during a raid while sitting out, players must be online and in the appropriate channel (indicated on the forums) in order to reply to an attendance call. The attendance call has a two minute window where players can be added, after which no further players will be added. Players are free to play alts while sitting out as long as they are in the appropriate channel.
BoE non-epic drops - These items include BoE green and blue quality items, world BoE drops, among others. Everyone can roll "greed" on those items. For green quality resistance armor pieces, classes who can benefit from them may roll "need". If an epic world-drop BoE (for patterns, see below) item drops, everyone may roll "greed" and the raid leader will determine if someone can benefit directly from it.
Item Values
DKP values are based on the Item Level and will be calculated by the formula Price = Item Level / 5. This allows DKP to scale based on Blizzard-determined quality of the item.
Set Piece Tokens - Set piece token value is determined based on the item that you get when it is handed in.
Crafting Items - Items such as Hearts of Darkness and Sunmotes will be collected by an officer and stored in the guild bank until they have a use.
Epic Patterns - Patterns, both BoP and BoE do not have a DKP value to them.- Patterns which result in crafted BoE items or enchants recipes will first be offered to officers, then raid members.
- Patterns that result in crafted BoP items are first offered to any person of rank raid member or above. Priority in both cases is given to those who:
- can directly benefit from the item on their main spec
- can learn them on the spot
- If no one is interested in a BoE pattern, it will be banked for one day for people who were not in the raid to request. After one day, we will attempt to sell it on the AH.
Epic BoE non-world drops - BoE items that drop inside raid instances that are not world drops will follow standard distribution based on DKP. In addition, they will be offered to those sitting out of the raid if no one inside the instance is interested in the item. If there is no interest from online members, the item will be sold on the auction house following completion of the raid. These items are not available for alts.
Unique and quest items - Quest items that have gear hand-in rewards (such as boss heads) will be given a DKP value based on the piece of gear's item level and distributed based on standard epic BoP item rules. Unique items with cosmetic purposes (such as mounts) will be rolled on by members of raiding rank above recruit via /random 1-100 and distributed based on the highest roll.
Legendary Items - Items of legendary quality will be distributed via an officer-approved order prior to the item dropping. If we are lucky enough to get a world first legendary drop (one unknown to anyone), officers will vote on who gets it on the spot and post the order of distribution following the raid. Legendary Items will have a 1.5x modifier added to their value.
Offspec
Each raid member will have a declared "main spec" as it relates to their role: Healer, tank or DPS. Any gear with stats not pertaining to their main spec role will be available for offspec. Spell power items, while typically available to any caster for healing or DPS, will be able to be offspec'd based on the presence of either +hit or +mp5. Single-role classes (mage, rogue, hunter, warlock) will typically not be able to offspec gear.
Interest in an item for offspec will be called after it has been determined that there is no interest for the item as main spec. Offspec gear will be available for zero DKP and it will be awarded to highest in a /random 1-100 roll. Officers reserve the right to override this random roll if it is determined that the item is better suited for another player, though we hope that our players are mature enough to not hog all of the offspec loot. For fun, players may also express interest in offspec items for vanity purposes (e.g. rogues or tanks in cloth healing gear), but the item will be given to players who can actually benefit from the gear first.
